WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) and junior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) have earned All-New England Division I Golf Association honors. McCarthy was named to the first team and Andrade earned second team honors.
Finishing the season with a team low average of 76.2 strokes, McCarthy was the top finisher in four out of the 10 meets (Mulekicker Fall Classic, Southern New Hampshire Invitational, NEIGA Championship and George Washington Invitational). McCarthy was named to the second team All-Patriot League.
Following close behind with an average of 77.4 strokes, Andrade ranked third on the team in this category and lowered his career average to an 80.2. Andrade won the Lou Flumere Invitational, as he was the first Crusader to win a tournament since 2007. He shot a 74 and won a three-way playoff with a birdie on the first hole. Following that win in April, Andrade totaled 148 strokes over two rounds to finish 10th at the New England Division I Championship, and was named the AT&T Crusader of the Week.
