Men's Golf Finishes In Seventh Place At 2010 Patriot League Championship

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) tallied a three-round score of 224 to lead the Holy Cross men's golf team, who finished in seventh place at the two-day Patriot League Championship, held at the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, N.Y. The Crusaders finished the championship with a total of 936 strokes (+72) as Zychowski placed in a tie for fourth individually. Lafayette took home the Patriot League Championship crown with a team score of 902 (+38). The Leopards came into the tournament having not finished in the top four of the Patriot League Championship since 2003.

Rounding out the Crusaders' performances was freshman Michael McCarthy's (Tolland, Conn.) three-day total of 229 strokes and a tie for 10th, while junior James Widman (Middlebury, Conn.) shot an three-round score of 241 overall. Sophomore Andrew Wong (Wailuku, Hawaii) ended the tournament with a 246, while junior Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) had a 253 and Tim McGovern (Oradell, N.J.) marked a 255. Lafayette's Rob Robertson won the individual title with 221 strokes.

Because of his top finish, Zychowski was named to the first team All-Patriot League. Eleven players were named to the second team, including McCarthy. The 2010 Patriot League Golf Championship marks the final event for the Holy Cross men's golf team this season.
