Scoreboard: No Scheduled Events
Schedule: Saturday-Sunday, April 3-4, at Yale Spring Open, New Haven, Conn., 8:00 a.m.
- The Holy Cross men’s golf team takes the week off from competition before returning to play in the Yale Spring Open held on Saturday and Sunday, April 3-4. The event will be held at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn., with tee times set for 8:00 a.m. both days.
- The Crusaders last competed in Yale’s Spring Open two years ago, in the spring of 2008. The 2007-2008 team finished in 18th place out of 26 total squads. Captain Colin Andrade (Assonet, Mass.) is the only member of the current Holy Cross roster to compete in the Spring Open. He finished with a two-round score of 167.
- After four total events, Andrade is turning in career-best performances his junior season. On his career, Andrade averages 81.7 strokes and marked a low round of 75 last season. So far, Andrade has already topped his low round, collecting a round of 70 at the MacDonald Cup and currently averages 76.6 strokes, second lowest on the team.
- The 2009-2010 freshman class is continuing to shine for the golf team as Mike McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) notched his fourth team-leading performance at the George Washington Invitational, placing 33rd individually. His three-round score of 225 this past weekend was the best three-round performance for him this season, as he shot a 237 at the MacDonald Cup this past fall. Fellow freshman Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) showed improvement as well as he tied his season-low round of 72, which he collected at the MacDonald Cup earlier.
