WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman defensive back Kenneth Flanders (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games ending October 16, it was announced by the conference office. Flanders recorded eight total tackles, including five solo stops, in the Crusaders' 24-0 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday. He ranked second on the team with his eight tackles, which were also the second-highest total of his collegiate career.
Flanders was a key part of the Holy Cross defense which allowed no points and only 276 yards of total offense in the victory over Dartmouth. He also helped the Crusaders post their first shutout in 122 games, since a 45-0 victory over Pennsylvania on Sept. 28, 1991.
Holy Cross (1-5 overall, 0-2 Patriot League) will return to action this Saturday, October 23, when it travels to Colgate for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
