WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) and senior linebacker Chris Nielsen (Center Line, Mich.) have been honored by the Patriot League for their performances in Saturday's 35-30 victory over Brown. Randolph was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, marking the second straight week he has received the honor, while Nielsen was chosen as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
In the Brown game, Randolph connected on 30 of 39 attempts for 329 yards and four touchdowns without an interception, setting new career highs for passing yards, completions and touchdown passes. Randolph's 30 completions against Brown were good for the fourth-best single game performance in Holy Cross history, just two short of the record of 32 set by Brian Hall against Lafayette on Oct. 20, 2001. In addition, his 329 yards were the most by a Crusader since Hall threw for 366 yards against Fordham on Nov. 9, 2002. On the season, Randolph has now connected on 67 of 93 attempts for 772 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions.
Nielsen posted four total tackles against the Bears on Saturday, including a career-high three sacks for 14 yards. The three sacks were the most by a Holy Cross player in a single game in over five years. On the season, Nielsen now ranks third on the team with 24 total tackles, including seven tackles for loss and a team-best six sacks for 31 yards. He has been particulary impressive over the last three games, totaling 10 tackles and all six of his sacks during that time. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, Nielsen now has 118 total tackles, 98 solo stops and 17 tackles for loss.
Holy Cross (4-2 overall, 2-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 14, when it travels to Dartmouth (0-4 overall, 0-2 Ivy League) for a 12:30 p.m. game.
