WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior linebacker Dan Adams (Springfield, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 26-13 victory at Georgetown. Adams led a Crusader defense which held the Hoyas to just 248 yards of total offense, 11 first downs and 13 points.
In the Georgetown game, Adams led the team with eight total tackles, including six solo stops and three tackles for loss. He had a fumble recovery early in the third quarter, to set up a field goal which gave the Crusaders a 16-0 lead. Adams also had an interception in the fourth quarter, setting up Holy Cross' final touchdown to put the game away.
Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Adams has now totaled 216 total tackles, 172 solo stops and nine tackles for loss.
In addition to Adams, senior wide receiver Matt Fanning (Marlborough, Mass.) and senior placekicker Mike DeSantis (Belle Mead, N.J.) were both named to the Patriot League's weekly Honor Roll. Fanning caught six passes for 69 yards and a touchdown against the Hoyas, while DeSantis kicked a pair of field goals from 39 and 26 yards.
Holy Cross (1-0 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 9, when it plays host to Northeastern (0-1 overall, 0-0 Atlantic 10) in a 1:00 p.m. game.
