Pete Carmichael joins the Holy Cross coaching staff this season as wide receivers coach. Carmichael has over 40 years of coaching experience, on the professional, collegiate and high school levels. He most recently spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Louisiana Tech from 2005-2006, and one year as the wide receivers coach at Pittsburgh in 2004. From 1994-2003, Carmichael worked in the National Football League for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears, helping the Jaguars to appearances in the AFC championship game in both 1996 and 1999. Prior to his time in the NFL, he spent 13 seasons at Boston College from 1981-1993, coaching the secondary for 11 years and the wide receivers for two seasons. Carmichael was the head coach at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy from 1977-1980, and at Trenton State in 1973. He has also served as an assistant coach on the collegiate level at Columbia, New Hampshire and Virginia Military Institute. The teams he has coached have appeared in seven bowl games and made five trips to the NFL playoffs. Carmichael is a 1964 graduate of Montclair State College with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education.
