WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 28-24 loss to Colgate. This marks the fifth straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection for Pujals.
During Saturday's game against Colgate, Pujals accounted for 287 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. He completed 25 of 40 passes for 232 yards and a score, in addition to rushing 14 times for 55 yards and a touchdown. Pujals scored on a one-yard run at the 8:33-mark of the first quarter to give the Crusader a 7-0 lead, then threw a six-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds left in the third quarter to put Holy Cross up 24-14.
In six games played this season, Pujals has now connected on 115 of 177 attempts for 1,294 yards and 12 scores, while running the ball 77 times for a team-high 302 yards and six touchdowns.
Holy Cross (3-5 overall, 1-1 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 26, when it plays host to Lafayette (1-5 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) in a 1:00 p.m. game at Fitton Field.
