WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman linebacker Kyle Young (Roxbury, N.J.) has been named the National Rookie of the Week by USA Football, for his performance in Saturday's 31-28 victory at Dartmouth. Earlier this week, Young earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Young totaled five tackles and forced two fumbles during the victory at Dartmouth. His first forced fumble came with 5:01 left in the third quarter, setting up a Holy Cross touchdown to tie the game at 21-21. Then, after the Crusaders had claimed a 31-28 lead late in the game, Young forced a fumble on a kickoff return with 46 seconds remaining to allow Holy Cross to run out the clock.
On the season, he has now totaled 17 tackles, one tackle for loss and two forced fumbles.
Holy Cross (2-3 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 5, when it plays host to Harvard (2-0 overall) at 1:00 p.m. in its Homecoming game.
