Pujals Named National Freshman Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) has been named the National Freshman of the Week by the Sports Network, for his performance in Saturday's 31-28 victory at Dartmouth. Earlier this week, Pujals earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
Pujals made his first career start at Dartmouth, and completed 25 of 37 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 125 yards and two more scores on 17 carries. He brought the Crusaders back from behind on three different occasions in the game, and also directed a 14-play, 67-yard drive in the fourth quarter to set up the game-winning field goal. In addition, Pujals' 415 yards of total offense against Dartmouth were good for the 12th highest single-game total in school history.
On the season, he has now hit on 38 of 58 passes for 419 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing 29 times for 160 yards and two scores.
Holy Cross (2-3 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 5, when it plays host to Harvard (2-0 overall) at 1:00 p.m. in its Homecoming game.
