WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman linebacker Kyle Young (Roxbury, N.J.) has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 52-21 victory at Central Connecticut. This marks the second time a Holy Cross player has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week this year, and the first honor of Young's collegiate career.
In the Central Connecticut game, Young made his first start of the season and led the team with 10 total tackles. Two of his tackles against the Blue Devils came on third down, with the runner being stopped short of the line to gain on both occasions. Over the course of the game, Young was a key part of a defense which held Central Connecticut to 364 total yards, 18 first downs and 21 points.
Through three games played this season, Young is now tied for eighth on the team with 12 total tackles.
Holy Cross (1-2 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 21, when it plays host Monmouth at Fitton Field at 6:00 p.m.
