Macomber Named Patriot League Special Teams Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior placekicker and punter John Macomber (Vienna, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 24-0 victory at Georgetown. This marks the first time a Holy Cross player has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week during the 2012 season.
In the Georgetown game, Macomber scored six points by hitting his only field goal attempt and all three of his extra points. He also averaged 44.4 yards on seven punts, with four of his punts downed inside the Hoyas' 20-yard line. In addition, Macomber averaged 61.6 yards on five kickoffs with one touchback.
On the season, Macomber ranked second on the team in scoring with 55 points, making 10 of 13 field goals and 25 of 26 extra points. He averaged 40.9 yards on 62 punts with 23 kicks downed inside the opponents' 20-yard line, and averaged 62.4 yards on 47 kickoffs with 21 touchbacks.
Holy Cross concluded the 2012 season with an overall record of 2-9, and tied for third in the Patriot League with a 2-3 mark in conference games.
