Football Team Concludes Spring Drills
WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore quarterback Steven Elder (San Antonio, Texas) completed seven of 11 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, as the Holy Cross football team played its annual spring game at Fitton Field. The offense was able to total 396 yards on 51 plays from scrimmage, good for an average of 7.8 yards per play. The defense finished the day with one interception, one quarterback sack, two pass breakups and two tackles for loss.
Junior quarterback Max Librizzi (Essex Junction, Vt.) completed 10 of 13 attempts for 155 yards and two touchdowns with one interception during the game, while sophomore quarterback Ryan Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa.) hit on six of eight passes for 91 yards. Junior wide receiver Kyle Toulouse (Arlington, Va.) totaled five receptions for 100 yards and two scores, and junior wide out Nate Stanley (Euclid, Ohio) added three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Senior tailback Eddie Houghton (Toronto, Ontario) led all rushers with 42 yards on nine carries, while junior tailback Reggie Woods (Bowie, Md.) added 22 yards and two scores on seven carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, senior linebacker Roman SanDoval (Allison Park, Pa.) totaled seven tackles, while junior cornerback Irvin Scott (Brookline, Mass.) made six tackles. Junior defensive lineman Matthew Boyd (Dallas, Texas) posted five tackles with a quarterback sack, and sophomore cornerback Ben Coffaro (Cincinnati, Ohio) had three tackles, an interception and a pass breakup.
The Crusaders have now concluded spring practice, and are scheduled to open the 2012 season when they play host to New Hampshire on Aug. 30 at Fitton Field.
