Fava Named To College Sports Journal National All-Freshman Team

Matt Fava

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman long snapper Matt Fava (Wayne, N.J.), a member of the Holy Cross football team, has been selected to the 2011 College Sports Journal National All-Freshman team. Fava was the only player from the Patriot League and one of only four individuals from New England to be named to the squad.

During the 2011 campaign, Fava served as the team's long snapper for every field goal, extra point and punt attempt. He was accurate on 98.9 percent of his snaps over the course of the season. Fava was also a key part of a Holy Cross special teams unit which did not allow any punts or field goals to be blocked all year.

The Crusaders finished the 2011 campaign with an overall record of 6-5, while placing second in the Patriot League with a 3-2 mark in conference games. Holy Cross also posted a winning record for the seventh straight season.
