WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross held its annual alumni football game on Saturday, April 16, at the conclusion of spring practice. The alumni players earned the victory in the contest, scoring two touchdowns to one for the current Crusaders.
Holy Cross' current team scored the first points of the game on a 27-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Max Librizzi (Essex Junction, Vt.) to senior wide receiver Clinton McCabe (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.). But the Alumni came back to tie up the score on a six-yard scoring strike from Tom Heffernan (Class of 1984) to Ryan McGuire (Class of 2009). The final points of the day were scored by Sean Lamkin (Class of 2010) on a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown, to give the alumni the victory.
Heffernan ended the game by completing all three of his pass attempts for 55 yards, while Bill Edger (Class of 2010) had two receptions for 49 yards and Jerome Fuller (Class of 1992) rushed 10 times for 26 yards. Nate Langelier (Class of 2009) led the alumni defense with four tackles, while Lamkin and Jim Grady (Class of 1991) added three tackles each.
