Two Crusaders Selected To New England All-Star Team

Mike McCabe

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior linebacker Sean Lamkin (Jenks, Okla.) and senior offensive tackle Mike McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) have been selected to the 2010 New England Football Championship Subdivision All-Star team, as announced by the New England Football Writers. The two Crusaders were among 30 players from around New England named to the squad. The members of the team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Banquet on Dec. 9 in Stoneham, Mass.

Lamkin was a first team All-Patriot League selection in 2010, after previously earning second team all-conference honors in 2008. A starter in 10 out of 11 games played this year, he ranked fourth on the team with 67 total tackles, including 51 solo stops, four quarterback sacks and a team-high seven tackles for loss. Lamkin also recorded four pass breakups and a forced fumble this season. He finished the year ranked eighth in the Patriot League in sacks, 13th in tackles for loss and 19th in quarterback sacks. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, Lamkin totaled 174 tackles, five sacks, 19 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 45 games played.
McCabe was named first team All-Patriot League this season, after receiving second team all-conference honors last year. He started all 11 games for the Crusaders at left tackle this season, as the leader of an offensive line which paved the way for Holy Cross to average 22.6 points and 323.1 yards of total offense per game. McCabe and the offensive line also allowed just 17 sacks this year, while the team attempted 418 passes (just one sack for every 25.6 times the team dropped back to pass). He is also a two-time ESPN / CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for his work in the classroom, and was named to the 2010 Academic All-Patriot League team. Over the course of his collegiate career, McCabe has played in 36 games with 25 starts along the offensive line.
The Crusaders finished the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 6-5, while placing second in the Patriot League with a 3-2 mark in conference games. Holy Cross posted a winning record for the sixth straight season.
