Bill Edger

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior wide receiver Bill Edger (Hainesport, N.J.) and senior offensive lineman Mike McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) have been selected to the 2010 Academic All-Patriot League team for football, as announced by the conference office. The Academic All-Patriot League team has been added for all sports beginning with the 2010-2011 school year to honor student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, and be a starter or key player.

Edger was a second team All-Patriot League selection this season, after starting nine games at wide receiver. He caught 44 passes on the year for team-highs of 540 yards and seven touchdowns. Edger also completed his only pass attempt this season for a 43-yard touchdown. He finished the year ranked fifth in the Patriot League in both receptions and receiving yards, while standing seventh in scoring. Over the course of his collegiate career, Edger made 117 receptions for 1,703 yards and 16 scores in 43 games played. He ranks eighth all-time at Holy Cross in career touchdown receptions. In the classroom, Edger has a 3.23 cumulative grade point average with a major in economics.

McCabe was named first team All-Patriot League this season, after receiving second team all-conference honors last year. He started all 11 games for the Crusaders at left tackle this season, as the leader of an offensive line which paved the way for Holy Cross to average 22.6 points and 323.1 yards of total offense per game. McCabe and the offensive line also allowed just 17 sacks this year, while the team attempted 418 passes (just one sack for every 25.6 times the team dropped back to pass). He is also a two-time ESPN / CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for his work in the classroom. Over the course of his collegiate career, McCabe has played in 36 games with 25 starts along the offensive line. In the classroom, he carries a 3.70 cumulative grade point average with a major in classics.

The Crusaders finished the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 6-5, while placing second in the Patriot League with a 3-2 mark in conference games. Holy Cross posted a winning record for the sixth straight season.
