Don Lemieux Named Patriot League Special Teams Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior punter Don Lemieux (Gardner, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 31-7 loss to No. 18 Massachusetts. This marks the first time Lemieux has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week during his collegiate career.
In the UMass game, Lemieux averaged 47.0 yards on six punts, with three kicks of over 50 yards and four punts downed inside the 20-yard line. His average of 47.0 yards per punt was the fifth-best single game mark in Holy Cross history. Lemieux also kicked off twice in the UMass game, averaging 58.5 yards.
Through two games played so far this season, Lemieux has averaged 42.2 yards on 13 punts and 63.1 yards on nine kickoffs. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he now owns an average of 39.7 yards on 38 punts and 61.2 yards on 93 kickoffs.
Holy Cross (1-1 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 18, when it travels to Harvard (0-0 overall) for a 7:00 p.m. game.
