BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holy Cross senior defensive end Mude Ohimor (Stoughton, Mass.) has been named as the 2010 Patriot League preseason Defensive Player of the Year, as selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors. The announcement came at the league's annual football media day at the Green Pond Country Club. Colgate quarterback Greg Sullivan earned preseason Offensive Player of the Year honors.
In the Patriot League preseason poll, Holy Cross was picked to finish in fourth place, with 34 points and one first-place vote. Colgate topped the poll with a total of 46 points and six first-place votes, followed by Lafayette with 36 points and two first-place votes, then Lehigh with 35 points and three first-place votes. After the Crusaders, Bucknell (fifth, 17 points) and Georgetown (sixth, 12 points) rounded out the rankings.
Holy Cross returns 12 of 24 starters from its 2009 squad which finished with an overall record of 9-3, won the Patriot League title with a 5-1 mark in conference games, and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the first time since 1983. The Crusaders are scheduled to open the 2010 season when they play host to Howard in a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday, Sept. 4.
