Crusaders Picked 14th In The Nation By The Sporting News

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross football team has been ranked as the 14th-best team in the nation by the Sporting News in its 2010 College Football Yearbook. In addition, senior linebacker Sean Lamkin (Jenks, Okla.) was picked as the preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman quarterback Max Librizzi (Essex Junction, Vt.) was named the preseason Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

Along with the Crusaders at No. 14, one Holy Cross opponent was ranked in Sporting News preseason Top 25, with Colgate checking in at No. 20. Villanova was picked as the preseason No. 1 team in the nation.

In its preseason Patriot League team rankings, the Sporting News picked Holy Cross to finish first in the conference. Colgate was predicted to finish second, followed by Lafayette in third place. Lehigh was picked fourth, with Fordham, Bucknell and Georgetown rounding out the ranking.
