WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior linebacker Andrew Cialino (Medford, N.J.) and freshman tailback Eddie Houghton (Toronto, Ontario) have been honored by the Patriot League for their performances in Saturday's 24-20 victory over Lehigh. Cialino was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while Houghton was chosen as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
In the Lehigh game, Cialino led the team with 15 total tackles, including 12 solo stops. He set new career highs for both total tackles and solo tackles against the Mountain Hawks, while reaching double-figures in tackles for the second straight game and the third time this season. On the year, Cialino ranks second on the team with 68 total tackles, including 56 solo stops and three tackles for loss. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now totaled 99 tackles.
Houghton totaled 41 yards from scrimmage in the Lehigh game, rushing seven times for 38 yards and catching one pass for three yards. He scored the Crusaders' first touchdown of the day on a 12-yard run, to give Holy Cross a 10-7 lead in the second quarter. Overall this season, Houghton ranks third on the team in rushing with 281 yards and four touchdowns on 48 carries, while catching four passes for 34 yards.
No. 13 Holy Cross (8-1 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Nov. 14, when it plays host to No. 20 Lafayette (8-1 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) in a 12:30 p.m. game which will determine the league's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.
