WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross freshman guard R.J. Evans (Salem, Conn.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Dec. 8-14. This marks the third time this season Evans has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, after previously winning the award on Nov. 17 and Dec. 8.
In the Crusaders' only game last week, a 73-59 loss at Massachusetts on Wednesday, Evans led the team and tied his career high with 17 points scored. He also posted a team-best eight rebounds and recorded a new career high with four steals, in addition to handing out two assists.
Overall this season, Evans leads the team in scoring with an average of 11.3 points per game, to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. He has scored in double-figures seven times in 10 games played this year, including each of the Crusaders' last four contests.
Holy Cross (3-7 overall) returns to action on Monday, Dec. 22, when it travels to Ohio for a 7:00 p.m. game.
