Oct. 27, 2005

New York, N.Y. - Senior guard Kevin Hamilton (Queens Village, N.Y.) and junior guard Keith Simmons (Kingston, N.Y.), members of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, have been named preseason All-Patriot League, it was announced at Patriot League media day. As a team, Holy Cross was picked to finish in second place in the 2005-2006 Patriot League preseason poll of head coaches and sports information directors, receiving two first place votes. Bucknell finished first in the poll and received all the other 14 first place votes. The preseason rankings were rounded out by Lehigh (third), Colgate (fourth), American (fifth), Navy (sixth), Lafayette (seventh) and Army (eighth).

Last season, Hamilton earned honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press, in addition to being named the Patriot League Player of the Year and earning first team All-Patriot League honors. He led the team and the Patriot League with an average of 15.7 points per game, in addition to posting a league-best 2.9 steals per contest. He also placed second on the team with averages of 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, marks which ranked sixth and seventh in the conference, respectively. Hamilton, who hit a league-high 82 three-point field goals on the year, scored in double figures 29 times in 32 games, and led the Crusaders in scoring 21 times. He enters the 2005-2006 season with 945 career points scored, and is already Holy Cross' all-time leader in career three-pointers made (159) and attempted (450).

Simmons was a first team All-Patriot League selection last year, after ranking second on the team and eighth in the league in scoring with an average of 12.1 points per game. He led the team in both field goal percentage (50.6 percent, 132 of 261) and three-point field goal percentage (42.0 percent, 50 of 119), while placing third and fourth in the conference, respectively. Simmons, who also ranked among the team's leaders in rebounds (4.1 per game) and steals (1.6 per game), led the Crusaders in scoring seven times last year. He was particularly effective against Patriot League foes, averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in regular season conference games. Entering the 2005-2006 campaign, Simmons has 623 career points scored.

Holy Cross is scheduled to open the 2005-2006 season on Friday, November 18, when it takes on High Point in the opening round of the William & Mary Tip-Off Classic, to be held in Williamsburg, Va.
