ALKMAAR, Netherlands - Sophomore forward Eric Meister (Boalsburg, Pa.) recorded a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds, as the Holy Cross men's basketball team lost 81-75 to the national team of Norway in the second game of its European Tour. The Crusaders return to action tomorrow when they face the tournament host the national team of the Netherlands that features current San Antonio Spurs player Francisco Elson.
The Crusaders trailed 35-33 at the half as Clifford and Vander Baan got into early foul trouble. The Norway team then scored four three-pointers in the third quarter to take a 57-51 lead after three. Holy Cross would then trail by as much as 12 in the final quarter before cutting the lead to five points late in the game. The Norway team would hold on for the 81-75 final.
Sophomore Zach Paterick (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) who played 4:07 in yesterday's game, led the team in minutes played with 29:08. Yesterday's leading scorer Pat Doherty (Scranton, Pa.) was unable to play because of a stiff back.
