Holy Cross To Play In San Juan Shootout, William & Mary Classic

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's basketball team will take part in a pair of tournaments during the 2005-2006 season, it was announced by head coach Ralph Willard and athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. The Crusaders will open the regular season at the William & Mary Tip-Off Classic in Williamsburg, Va., on Nov. 18-19. Holy Cross will also participate in the San Juan Shootout, which will take place in Carolina, Puerto Rico, from Dec. 17-22.
At the William & Mary Tip-Off Classic, the Crusaders will open play against High Point in an 8:30 p.m. game on Friday, Nov. 18. Holy Cross will then face either William & Mary or Maine on Saturday, Nov. 19. If the Crusaders face Maine the game will begin at 6:00 p.m., while if they take on William & Mary it will tip-off at 8:30 p.m.
In the San Juan Shootout, Holy Cross will take on a field which includes Akron, Clemson, Liberty, Mississippi State, Mount St. Mary's, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and Tennessee-Chattanooga. Two teams in the field (Mississippi State and Tennessee-Chattanooga) took part in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Pairings for the San Juan Shootout will be determined at a later date.
Holy Cross is coming off a 2004-2005 season in which it posted an overall record of 25-7, captured the Patriot League regular season crown with a 13-1 mark in conference games, and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
The Crusaders complete schedule for the 2005-2006 season will be announced later this summer.
