WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Joe Knight hit 10 3-pointers and scored 45 points - both new tournament records - as Lehigh defeated Colgate 77-60 in the first round of the Patriot League conference tournament.
Lehigh will face Holy Cross, a 76-42 winner over Army, in the semifinals on Sunday.
Knight broke the previous tournament record of 43 points set by Rod Feaster of Holy Cross in 1994 and Mark Lueking of Army in 1995. Seth Schaeffer's record of seven 3-pointers for Colgate had stood since 1998.
Knight shot 15 of 19 overall and missed just two three-point attempts. He also led Lehigh with seven rebounds and three steals.
Kyle Roemer, who led Colgate (12-16) with 18 points, scored 10 in the first half as Colgate led by as much as 23-11.
But Knight shot Lehigh (14-14) back into the game. Knight connected on three consecutive 3-pointers, as Lehigh went on a 13-4 run, to pull within a point, 29-28, at halftime.
In the second half, Knight's 3-pointer tied it at 37-37 with 14:02 to play, and he then scored 10 straight points. His final field goal in the surge put Lehigh ahead 47-41 with 11:50 left.
Lehigh's 11-6 run made it 60-47 with 9:33 remaining. Knight set the tourney record with a 3-pointer with 8:05 remaining, giving Lehigh a 63-51 lead.
