Holy Cross' Tim Clifford Named First Team All-Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior center Tim Clifford (Walpole, Mass.) has been named the 2007-2008 All-Patriot League first team in men's basketball, as voted by the conference's head coaches. In addition, freshman guard Andrew Beinert (Floral Park, N.Y.) was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie team.
Clifford averaged 17.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game on the year for the Crusaders, while shooting 57.0 percent from the floor (195 of 342) and 78.5 percent at the foul line (95 of 121). He finished the regular season ranked first in the league in blocked shots, second in field goal percentage, fourth in scoring and sixth in rebounding. Clifford led the team in scoring 23 times in 28 games played this year, including each of Holy Cross' last 14 contests. He also scored in double figures 26 straight times to end the season, while going for at least 20 points in 11 of those games. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Clifford has now totaled 1,223 points, 508 rebounds and 207 blocked shots. He is Holy Cross' all-time leader in career blocks, while standing 21st all-time in scoring.
Beinert averaged 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game this season, as the backup point guard for the Crusaders. He scored in double-figures three times this year, including a career-high and team-best 15 points at Lafayette on Jan. 12. A two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection, Beinert also handed out at least three assists in a game seven times this season.
Holy Cross (15-13 overall, 5-9 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, March 5, when it travels to American in a quarterfinal round game of the Patriot League Tournament. The contest between the Crusaders and the Eagles is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
