WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior guard Torey Thomas (White Plains, N.Y.), a member of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, has been named the Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week, for competition from January 29-February 4, Thomas averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game last week, while leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories over American (58-47) and Lafayette (74-52).
In Wednesday's win over American, Thomas scored a team-high 16 points, while hitting a career-best 11 of 13 free throw attempts. He also had four rebounds, four assists and two steals against the Eagles. Then in Saturday's victory over Lafayette, Thomas led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Over the course of the two games, he hit 50.0 percent of his shots from three-point range (four or eight) and 15 of 17 attempts at the foul line (88.2 percent).
On the season, Thomas is now averaging 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.5 steals per contest. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, he has totaled 1,048 points, 464 rebounds, 422 assists and 233 steals. Thomas currently ranks third all-time at Holy Cross in steals, sixth in assists, sixth in minutes played (3,248) and 39th in points scored.
Holy Cross (18-6 overall, 9-0 Patriot League), which is currently on an 11-game winning streak, returns to action on Tuesday, February 6, when it travels to Army for a 7:30 p.m. game.
