WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior guard Keith Simmons (Kingston, N.Y.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 9-15. Simmons averaged 19.0 points and 3.0 rebounds for the Holy Cross men's basketball team, as it split a pair of games against Army and Bucknell last week.
In Wednesday's 84-46 victory at Army, Simmons scored a team-high 26 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. He made nine of 11 shots from the field against the Black Knights, including a six of seven performance from three-point range. In Saturday's 56-42 loss at Bucknell, Simmons added 12 points and three steals. Over the course of the two games, he shot 65.0 percent from the field (13 of 20) and 72.7 percent from three-point range (eight of 11).
On the season, Simmons is averaging 13.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He is also shooting 50.0 percent from the floor (83 of 166) and 50.0 percent from behind the three-point line (36 of 72).
The Crusader men's basketball team (9-8 overall, 2-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 17, when it faces Boston College at the DCU Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
