Men's Basketball Team Suffers 83-71 Home Loss To Siena

WORCESTER, Mass. - Siena forward Alex Franklin recorded 22 points and 13 rebounds, to lead the Saints to an 83-71 victory over the Holy Cross men's basketball team at the Hart Center. The Crusaders were led by freshman guard R.J. Evans (Salem, Conn.) with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Holy Cross falls to 4-9 on the season with the loss, while Siena improves to 8-4.

The game was tied 4-4 after three minutes of play, when the Saints went on an 8-0 run to take a 12-4 lead. Siena eventually extended its lead to 13 points (22-9) with 10 minutes remaining in the half, before the Crusaders went on a 20-8 run to make it a one-point game. But the Saints responded with a 9-1 spurt of their own a few minutes later, and took a 41-34 advantage into the locker room.

Siena held onto its lead early in the second half, and was up by eight points (53-45) with 14 minutes left to play. The Saints then used a 9-0 run to take their largest lead of the game (62-45) with nine minutes remaining. Holy Cross was able to get no closer than eight points down the stretch, as Siena eventually posted a 12-point victory.

Junior forward Adam May (Mentor, Ohio) finished the game with 15 points, three rebounds and three steals, while freshman guard Devin Brown (Randallstown, Md.) added 10 points and three rebounds.

The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Jan. 2, when they travel to Boston University for a 7:00 p.m. game.
