WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior forward Kevin Hyland (White Plains, N.Y.) scored a career-high 13 points, leading a balanced scoring attack in Holy Cross' 79-52 victory over Marist at the Hart Center.

Starting in placed of injured senior center Nate Lufkin (Austin, Texas), Hyland scored all but two of his points in the second half as the Crusaders (3-0) ran away from the Red Foxes in their 2004-2005 home opener. Junior guard Kevin Hamilton (Queens Village, N.Y.), senior guard Greg Kinsey (Hatboro, Pa.) and senior forward John Hurley (South Boston, Mass.) each had 10 points for Holy Cross, while freshman center Tim Clifford (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore guard Keith Simmons (Kingston, N.Y.) added nine each.

Sophomore point guard Torey Thomas (White Plains, N.Y.) contributed eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Crusaders, who are off to their first 3-0 start since 1992-1993. Jared Jordan scored a game-high 22 points for Marist, which fell to 2-3.

Holy Cross had control of the game from the outset, scoring the first nine points and never looking back. The Crusaders extended their first-half lead to as much as 25 points (35-10) with 4:38 remaining on Hamilton's three free throws and ended the half ahead, 39-17.

Hamilton, who finished with nine rebounds, had eight first-half points to lead the hosts, followed by Hurley with seven and Thomas and Clifford with six apiece.

The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, December 1, when they play host to Princeton at 6:00 p.m.
