WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior forward Colin Cunningham (Memphis, Tenn.) totaled 17 points and six rebounds, to lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to a 91-69 victory over Assumption in an exhibition game at the Hart Center. Freshman guard R.J. Evans (Salem, Conn.) added 12 points and seven rebounds in his collegiate debut, while freshman guard Devin Brown (Randallstown, Md.) recorded 12 points and six assists.
Holy Cross led 16-13 after nine minutes of play, before going on a 9-0 run to increase the margin to double-figures. The Greyhounds would close to within seven points (29-22) with just over six minutes to go until the break, before the Crusaders closed out the half on a 19-7 run to take a 48-29 advantage into the locker room. Assumption would get no closer than 12 points in the second half, as Holy Cross eventually pulled away for a 22-point victory.
Sophomore forward Andrew Keister (Galloway, N.J.) posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while senior center Greg McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) finished with 10 points and three rebounds. Assumption was led by Mike Baldarelli with 21 points and four rebounds.
Holy Cross opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 14, when it plays host to Sacred Heart in a 7:00 p.m. game at the Hart Center.
