WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Sophomore guard Keith Simmons (Kingston, N.Y.) scored 16 points, leading five Holy Cross players in double figures in a 81-60 win over Lafayette on Friday night.
Simmons sank three consecutive three-pointers in a second half rally that put the game away for Holy Cross (18-5 overall, 9-1 Patriot League), now winners of 10 straight.
Sean Knitter had 13 points and Jamaal Hilliard added 12 for Lafayette (6-17 overall, 2-8 Patriot League). Knitter hit a three-pointer and a basket, cutting the lead to 52-47 with 10:59 left. But Simmons put the game out reach, as his three consecutive three-pointers put the Crusaders ahead 65-49 with 7:56 left.
Junior Kevin Hamilton (Queens Village, N.Y.) scored 16 points and junior forward Kevin Hyland (White Plains, N.Y.) added 15 for Holy Cross. Senior guard Greg Kinsey (Hatboro, Pa.) had 13 points and senior forward John Hurley (South Boston, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points to round out the Crusaders in double figures. Hurley also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and Simmons grabbed 10, giving Holy Cross two players with double-doubles for the second straight game.
Holy Cross shot nearly 52 percent for the game, hitting 29 of 56 attempts from the field.
The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Feb. 13, when they play host to Lehigh in a 2:00 p.m. game that will be shown on College Sports Television and WLVI-TV 56 in Boston.
