Mark Jerz is in his third year as an assistant coach at the College of the Holy Cross. Jerz's primary responsibilities include recruiting and handling all team travel. He is also heavily involved in opponent scouting, academic advising, game preparation and player development.
Holy Cross has posted an overall record of 45-19 during Jerz's first two seasons on the staff, winning at least 20 games each year. During the 2004-2005 campaign, he helped the team to a 25-7 overall record, a Patriot League regular season title and a trip to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Jerz returned to Holy Cross in 2004 after spending one year as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisville under Rick Pitino. While at Louisville, Jerz assisted in game preparation and opponent scouting through extensive film breakdowns, while also assisting with on-campus recruiting efforts.
Jerz is a 2003 graduate of Holy Cross and a four-year letter winner for the Crusaders' basketball team. He averaged 5.4 points per game as a senior co-captain, while earning his bachelor's degree in economics. He led the Patriot League and ranked fifth nationally in three point shooting accuracy, hitting 50.0 percent of his attempts (33 of 66) from beyond the arc in 2002-2003.
A native of Spring Lake, N.J., Jerz left Bergen Catholic High School as its all-time leading scorer with 1,210 career points.
