Last year, he worked with a team which posted an overall record of 20-14, good for its first 20-win season since 2006-2007. Holy Cross also placed third in the Patriot League with a 12-6 mark in conference games, and received an invitation to the Tournament. Holy Cross’ 68-65 victory at Brown in the first round of the 2014 CIT was its first in a national postseason tournament since 2004-2005.

Popp came to Holy Cross from Middlebury (Vt.) College, where he served as the associate head coach for two seasons. The Panthers had a great deal of success during Popp’s time on the staff, posting a record of 26-4 during the 2011-2012 season and a 25-4 mark in 2012-2013. Middlebury also advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament, after making it to the Sweet Sixteen in 2012.

Popp was previously an assistant coach at Springfield (Mass.) College for two years, while earning his master’s degree in sports management. He helped the Pride to a pair of winning seasons, with the team posting an overall record of 29-24 during his two years on the staff. Popp also has a great deal of experience as a coach at summer basketball camps around the country.

A 2008 graduate of Assumption College with a bachelor’s degree in business, Popp helped the Greyhounds to an overall record of 24-11 and a trip to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen during his senior year. He was a three-year letterwinner at Assumption, after playing his freshman season at the University of Minnesota as a recruited walk-on.
