WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Jan. 13-19. This marks the fourth time this season Alexander has received Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
During Wednesday night's 78-75 victory at Army, Alexander totaled 16 points and five rebounds. Then in Saturday's 61-42 win over Lehigh, he recorded 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Over the course of the two games, Alexander averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while hitting 66.7 percent of his field goal attempts (10 of 15) and 75.0 percent of his free throws (nine of 12).
On the season, Alexander ranks fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 9.0 points per contest, and third in rebounding with an average of 4.3 boards per game.
Holy Cross (9-9 overall, 3-3 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when it travels to Lafayette for a 7:00 p.m. game.
