Alexander Earns Patriot League Rookie Of The Week Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Nov. 18-24. He averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Crusaders went 2-1 in three games last week. This marks the second straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor for Alexander.
During Wednesday night's 61-47 victory at Fairfield, Alexander tied for the team lead with 13 points, in addition to grabbing five rebounds. He then posted 10 points and three rebounds in Saturday's 81-70 loss to Belmont, while totaling 13 points and seven rebounds in Sunday's 80-55 win over Hartford. Over the course of the three games, he made 62.5 percent of his field goal attempts (10 of 16) and 75.0 percent of his free throws (15 of 20).
In six games played this season, Alexander is averaging 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor (22 of 42) and 76.7 percent at the foul line (33 of 43).
Holy Cross (3-3 overall) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 30, when it travels to New Hampshire for a 7:00 p.m. game.
