Alexander Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Nov. 11-17. He averaged 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as the Crusaders split a pair of contests last week.
During Wednesday night's 122-118 double overtime victory over Sacred Heart, Alexander posted the first double-double of his collegiate career with 23 points and 13 rebounds. He had an excellent night even before the game went into overtime, totaling 20 points and 10 rebounds in regulation. Alexander then scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down five rebounds in Friday's 62-54 loss at No. 12 North Carolina. Over the course of the two games, he made 17 of 21 free throw attempts (81.0 percent).
In three games played this season, Alexander is averaging 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Holy Cross (1-2 overall) returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 20, when it travels to Fairfield for a 7:00 p.m. game.
