WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's basketball team has announced that is will partner with the 3-Point Foundation and Coaching for Literacy to take part in the Coach4aDay Program during the 2013-2014 season. For selected games this year, opportunities will be auctioned off to serve as a guest "assistant coach," with the proceeds going to charity. This will involve the chance to sit directly behind the team bench, meet the Holy Cross coaches and players, and get a glimpse inside the locker room on game day. Games which are included come against Harvard (Nov. 10), American (Jan. 5), Lehigh (Jan. 18) and Bucknell (Feb. 9).
The 3-Point Foundation is a non-profit organization that teaches and mentors urban boys to prepare them for success in academics and life. It concentrate on reading, writing, mathematics and character development for underserved youth who have demonstrated commitment, discipline and enthusiasm by playing in organized basketball programs. THe organization provides the support and resources for boys to obtain life transforming educational opportunities by being admitted to outstanding private, charter or exam schools. The key to its success is its focused strategy of bringing outstanding educational and mentoring programs to high potential boys participating in the leading inner city community basketball program which, as part of its core values, emphasizes academic success.
