WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman guard Cullen Hamilton (Washington, D.C.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Nov. 5-11. Hamilton averaged 7.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest last week, as the Crusaders posted a 2-1 record at the Liberty Tax Classic in Norfolk, Va.
During Friday night's season-opening 46-45 victory over Old Dominion, Hamilton tied for the team-lead in scoring with 15 points, in addition to pulling down four rebounds. He hit the game-winning free throw against the Monarchs, breaking a 45-45 tie with 8.9 seconds remaining, while his 15 points were the most by a Holy Cross player in his collegiate debut since R.J. Evans scored 15 points against Sacred Heart in 2008. Hamilton, who also scored three points in Saturday's 60-56 loss to Texas-San Antonio and five points in Sunday's 74-73 win over Morgan State, made 76.9 percent (10 of 13) of his free throw attempts on the week.
Holy Cross (2-1 overall) returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 14, when it plays host to Maine at 7:00 p.m.
