WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head men's basketball coach Milan Brown have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2012-2013 season, which is slated to begin on Nov. 9. The schedule includes 10 games against teams which advanced to postseason play last year, including nine contests against schools which won at least 20 games in 2011-2012. The slate also features a total of 12 regular season home games at the Hart Center.
"As always, we have another competitive non-conference schedule this season," said Brown. "Our mental and physical toughness is going to be challenged with so many road games. I believe that we will embrace these challenges and prove that it can be beneficial for us later in the season."
The Crusaders begin the season with three games at the Liberty Tax Classic in Norfolk, Va., against Old Dominion (Nov. 9), Texas-San Antonio (Nov. 10) and Morgan State (Nov. 11). Holy Cross then plays its home opener against Maine (Nov. 14), followed by a trip to St. John's (Nov. 21). After a home date against New Hampshire (Nov. 24), the Crusaders will hit the road for contests at Providence (Nov. 27), Hartford (Dec. 1) and Sacred Heart (Dec. 5). Holy Cross returns to the Hart Center to face Dartmouth (Dec. 8), then travels to San Francisco (Dec. 18), Harvard (Dec. 22) and Boston College (Dec. 29). The non-conference portion of the schedule concludes with home contests against Yale (Jan. 4) and Columbia (Jan. 8).
Holy Cross opens Patriot League play on the road at Lehigh (Jan. 12) and Navy (Jan. 16). After a home contest against American (Jan. 19), the Crusaders travel to Lafayette (Jan. 23). A pair of home games against Bucknell (Jan. 26) and Army (Jan. 30) follow, prior to a road contest at Colgate (Feb. 2) and two more home games with Lehigh (Feb. 9) and Navy (Feb. 12).
The Crusaders will next travel to American (Feb. 17), before coming home to face Lafayette (Feb. 20). After two more road games at Bucknell (Feb. 24) and Army (Feb. 27), Holy Cross closes out the regular season at the Hart Center against Colgate (March 2). All games in the 2012 Patriot League Tournament will take place on the campus of the higher seeded team, with quarterfinal games on March 6, the semifinal round on March 9, and the championship game on March 13.
The Crusaders return three starters and nine letterwinners from their 2011-2012 squad which went 15-14 overall, and placed fourth in the Patriot League with a 9-5 mark in conference games.
