Burrell Named To Mid-Major Freshman All-America Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.), a member of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, has been named to the 2012 College Insider Mid-Major Freshman All-America team. Burrell was one of 25 players from across the nation selected to the squad.

Burrell was previously named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, in addition to being chosen to the Patriot League All-Rookie team. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game on the year for the Crusaders, while hitting 77.4 percent of his free throws (65 of 84). Burrell finished the season ranked second in the league in assists, third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7-to-1), ninth in free throw percentage and 27th in scoring. He scored in double-figures 10 times on the year, in addition to leading the team in assists 19 times. Burrell also stepped up his play during Holy Cross' six-game winning streak to end the regular season, averaging 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists during that time, while connecting on 50.0 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (nine of 18).

Holy Cross finished the 2011-2012 campaign with an overall record of 15-14, and placed fourth in the Patriot League with a 9-5 mark in conference games.
