WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior guard R.J. Evans (Salem, Conn.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from February 20-26. Evans helped lead the Holy Cross men's basketball team to a 2-0 record in a pair of games last week.
During Wednesday night's 82-51 victory over Army, Evans totaled 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. He then led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds in Saturday's 65-58 win at Colgate. Over the course of the two games, Evans averaged 13.5 points 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest, while connecting on 70.6 percent of his field goal attempts (12 of 17).
On the season, Evans is now averaging 11.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has totaled 1,182 points, 470 rebounds, 211 assists and 127 steals.
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 29, when it plays host to Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
