Burrell Earns Patriot League Rookie Of The Week Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Feb. 13-19. He averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per contest last week, as the Crusaders swept a pair of games from Lafayette and Bucknell. This marks the second straight week and the third time this season Burrell has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
During Wednesday night's 70-63 victory at Lafayette, Burrell totaled 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. He then added 15 points and three assists in Saturday's 54-52 win over Bucknell. Over the course of the two games, Burrell made 50.0 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (four of eight) and 70.0 percent of his free throws (seven of 10). He also hit three of four free throws in the final minute of both the Lafayette game and the Bucknell contest, to help the Crusaders pull out a pair of narrow victories.
In 26 games played this season, Burrell is averaging 7.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and a team-high 3.7 assists per game. He is also hitting 76.4 percent of his attempts from the foul line (55 of 72).
Holy Cross (13-13 overall, 7-5 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 22, when it plays host to Army at 7:00 p.m.
