Burrell Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Feb. 6-12. He averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest last week, as the Crusaders swept a pair of games from Navy and American. This marks the second time this season Burrell has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
During Wednesday night's 64-52 victory at Navy, Burrell led the team with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists. He then added eight points, three rebounds and three assists in Saturday's 59-52 win over American. Over the course of the two games, Burrell made 80.0 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (four of five) and 75.0 percent of his free throws (nine of 12), in addition to posting a 2.3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
In 24 games played this season, Burrell is averaging 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and a team-high 3.8 assists per game. He is also hitting 77.4 percent of his attempts from the foul line (48 of 62).
Holy Cross (11-13 overall, 5-5 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 15, when it travels to Lafayette for a 7:00 p.m. game.
