Burrell Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman guard Justin Burrell (Dumfries, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Nov. 28-Dec. 4. Burrell averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 assists per contest last week, as the Crusaders split a pair of games against Providence and New Hampshire.
During Tuesday night's narrow 82-77 loss at Providence, Burrell totaled a career-high 15 points, six assists, two rebounds and two steals. He then recorded 13 points and two assists in Saturday's 62-57 victory over New Hampshire, while hitting all eight of his free throw attempts in the final three minutes to help secure the win. On the week, Burrell made 12 of 13 free throws (92.3 percent) and four of 10 three-point field goals (40.0 percent).
In eight games played so far this season, Burrell is averaging 8.0 points and a Patriot League-best 4.3 assists per contest. He is also hitting 78.3 percent of his attempts from the foul line (18 of 23).
Holy Cross (3-5 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when it travels to Columbia for a 7:00 p.m. game.
