Holy Cross Defeated By Wake Forest 75-64
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest freshman forward Travis McKie posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, as the Demon Deacons recorded a 75-64 victory over the Holy Cross men's basketball team at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. Senior center Andrew Keister (Galloway, N.J.) and junior guard Devin Brown (Baltimore, Md.) led the Crusaders with 16 points each. Holy Cross falls to 0-6 on the season with the loss, while the Demon Deacons improve to 5-3.
Holy Cross started the game hot, jumping out to a quick 7-2 lead after the first four minutes of play. Wake Forest came back to score the next nine points and claim an 11-7 advantage with 13 minutes left in the half. The Demon Deacons would eventually increase their lead to nine points (21-12), before the Crusaders used an 8-2 spurt to get back into the game. Wake Forest would go on to take a 32-27 lead into the locker room.
The Crusaders made it a one-point game (34-33) early in the second half, before Wake Forest scored the next eight points to go back in front by nine (42-33). The Demon Deacons went on to increase their lead to 15 points (61-46) with 7:18 remaining in the game. Holy Cross then went on a 14-5 run to close the gap, and trailed 66-60 with two minutes left to play. But that was as close as the Crusaders would get, as Wake Forest would eventually pull away for an 11-point win.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 7, when it plays host to Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m.
