WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross sophomore guard R.J. Evans (Salem, Conn.) has been named the Patriot League / Anaconda Player of the Week, for competition from Dec. 21-27. This marks the first time Evans has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week during his collegiate career. He also becomes the first Holy Cross player to receive the honor this season.
In the Crusaders’ only game last week, a narrow 82-79 loss to Sacred Heart, Evans led the team in scoring with 20 points, hitting eight of 15 shots from the field and four of seven attempts at the free throw line. He also posted five rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in 31 minutes of action. Evans has now scored at least 20 points in two straight games, and has reached the 20-point mark five times in his collegiate career.
Overall this year, Evans has averaged a team-best 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has totaled 584 points, 226 rebounds, 79 assists and 59 steals.
Holy Cross (2-9 overall) returns to action tonight, Dec. 28, when it plays host to George Washington at 7:00 p.m.
