WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior Drew Bigda (Stamford, Conn.) was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization on Tuesday evening. The southpaw was the 1155th pick overall in the 39th round and becomes the 121st Holy Cross baseball player to move on by being drafted or signed by a professional ballclub.
Bigda splits time between pitching and first base for the Crusaders. Last season, he posted a .216 average at the plate for the Crusaders in all 34 contests. He led the team with two home runs and ranked fourth on the squad with 14 runs batted in. On the mound, Bigda posted a 2-4 record in seven appearances with a 3.24 earned run average. He tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 29 punch outs. He surrendered just 15 earned runs in over 41 innings of work.
