WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross head baseball coach Craig Najarian announced today that the third annual Holy Cross Baseball Leadoff Dinner will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2007, in the Hogan Center Ballroom on the campus of Holy Cross.
The evening will include a silent auction of sports memorabilia, a Social Hour at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Buffet Dinner at 7:00 p.m. Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame member Rick DeAngelis '70 will be honored with a special presentation. Members of the 2007 Crusader baseball team will be on hand with their families, while WCTR-TV 3's Brianne Mallaghan will serve as emcee for the evening.
Worcester native and 2001 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year, Greg Montalbano will be the keynote speaker. Montalbano, a St. John's of Shrewsbury (MA) High School graduate, is arguably one of the greatest left-handed pitchers to come out of New England. As a college pitcher (Northeastern University), Greg captured two All-America and three All-New England honors. He was selected as a fifth round draft choice of the Boston Red Sox in 2000. The organization then named him its 2001 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year after he posted impressive numbers at both the A (Sarasota) and AA (Trenton) levels. After successfully overcoming multiple battles with cancer, Greg is now a pitcher on the Worcester Tornadoes (Can-Am League) staff.
Tickets are $65. All proceeds will benefit the Holy Cross baseball program through the Crusader Athletics Fund. Click on the link below to download a reply form and reserve seating today. Please reply by Wednesday, January 24.
